I have had dogs my whole life but Rocky is the first dog I ever trained to hunt
Ducks. I bought all the books and did all the training myself. I made mistakes along
the way but I ended up with a dog that will do anything to retrieve a bird for me. He
loves to hunt and is the first one to the door in the morning hoping it is his turn to
go. Rocky is 7 Years old and is still like a young pup. His draw back is he is a little
to high strung and for that reason he hunts with me and me alone. He has what
seems to be an uncontrollable whine at times, although this year it seems to be
much better. His desire to retrieve is unmatched. He gets so excited sometimes that
he forgets where the 2nd bird of a double drops and he ends up with a blind
retrieve. Rocky is very loyal and is a gem in the house. He would rather be with me
than I think anything else. He is with me right now as I work on his page and is very
content. He could be sound asleep but he knows when I make a move of any kind.
Rocky is a great companion and the roots of Long Island Pointing Labs. It is
because of him that I have gotten so involved with dogs. Here are some pictures of
Rocky. My buddy and hunting partner.
